To get to Poodle Dog Pass, park at Barlow Pass which is about 19.5 miles up the Mountain Loop Highway. Proceed to hike 4 miles down the
Monte Cristo Road to the junction with Monte Cristo Campground Road.
Go right and cross over the bridge, passing cabins, until you come to the
Silverlake Trail which has proven itself worthy for fishing. This is a 4.4 mile, one way hike with a 2,000 foot elevation gain and a 4,800 foot
peak elevation. This leads you into Twin Lakes overlook, 3.6 miles from Monte Cristo. Continue downhill 600 feet to the right and you
reach Upper Twin Lakes, the end of your journey. There are plenty of gorgeous views of nearby mountains, lakes, and wildlife.
